Daniel Schwartz is an American businessman and since December 2014 has been the Chief Executive Officer of Restaurant Brands International Inc., the parent company of three iconic brands, BURGER KING®, TIM HORTONS®, and POPEYES®. He previously served as the CEO of Burger King Corporation and prior to that, as Chief Financial Officer.
Schwartz is also a partner of the global investment firm 3G Capital, where he started as an analyst in 2005. While at 3G, he led the firm’s acquisition of Burger King Corporation in 2010. Upon closing, he became Burger King Corporation’s Deputy CFO and shortly thereafter, its CFO.
Following the acquisition, he put in place a new Master Franchise Joint Venture model which was instrumental in accelerating the growth of the BURGER KING® brand globally, which now has restaurants in over 100 countries.
In August 2014, Schwartz spearheaded the creation of Restaurant Brands International Inc. (RBI) and the acquisition of the TIM HORTONS® brand. RBI is now one of the world's largest quick service restaurant companies generating more than $27 billion in system sales in over 23,000 restaurants- approximately 100% of which are franchised.
Since his appointment as CEO of RBI, Schwartz has fostered a culture of meritocracy providing growth opportunities to many new and existing employees across the globe as RBI grows its two iconic brands. He has also encouraged the sharing of best practices between businesses, leveraging their global scale and reach to deliver value for shareholders, franchisees and partners, and a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
Schwartz holds a BSc in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.
Joshua Kobza was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Company on December 15, 2014. Mr. Kobza served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Burger King Worldwide since April 11, 2013. Mr. Kobza joined Burger King Worldwide in June 2012 as Director, Investor Relations, and was promoted to Senior Vice President, Global Finance in December 2012. From January 2011 until June 2012, Mr. Kobza worked at SIP Capital, a Sao Paulo based private investment firm, where he evaluated investments across a number of industries and geographies. From July 2008 until December 2010, Mr. Kobza served as an analyst in the corporate private equity area of the Blackstone Group in New York City.
Jill Granat was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on December 15, 2014. Ms. Granat served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Burger King Worldwide and its predecessor since March 2011. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Granat was Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Burger King Corporation from July 2009 until March 2011. Ms. Granat joined BKC in 1998 as a member of the legal department and served in positions of increasing responsibility with the company.
Patrick McGrade was appointed Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Restaurant Brands International on March 5th, 2015 with responsibility for internal and external communications, media relations, government relations and sustainability. From May 2013 to March 2015, Mr. McGrade was Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Enterprise and Assistant Secretary of Tim Hortons Inc. Prior to joining Tim Hortons, Mr. McGrade was Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs for GlaxoSmithKline, Canada.
