1. Diversity and Representation
We believe that the best decisions come from having a diverse
group of people at the table. By acknowledging that our
workforce and leadership teams do not have enough
representation from diverse communities -- including Black,
Indigenous, People of Colour and those who identify as LGBTQ+
-- we're creating urgency for action.
-
2. Committed Leadership
Our leadership teams are devoted to building a culture where
diversity thrives.
Our leadership teams are committed to creating a culture of
diversity and inclusion and there’s zero tolerance for
harassment, racism, bias, or barriers to advancement.
-
3. Reaching Goals and Tracking Progress:
We’re consistently measuring progress of our diversity
initiatives by asking our employees – existing and prospective
– to voluntarily report information about themselves and their
identities. This includes their gender, race, ethnicity, and
sexual orientation (wherever applicable and permitted by law).
This information is not used in the hiring process. We use the
insights to inform our employees of our progress in
all-employee meetings, including the diversity of our pipeline
of candidates, promotions, raises, and turnover. This process
drives our actions and helps us stay accountable.
-
4.Implicit Bias Training:
Our implicit bias training and workshops help our employees
recognize, understand, and overcome implicit bias.
Through our training and workshops, we facilitate an
environment of inclusivity where all of our employees are
treated respectfully and fairly so they know they belong to
the RBI community.
-
5. Zero Tolerance Policy:
RBI has strict zero-tolerance policies on workplace
discrimination and harassment.
In addition to implicit bias training, our strict
zero-tolerance policies give our employees the confidence to
bring all concerns to our attention. The safety and health of
our employees is our priority and all employees are able to
report their concerns to our People team, Legal team, or
through an anonymous hotline.
We do not tolerate retaliation of any kind against employees
who report, or serve as witnesses to, incidents and our People
and Legal teams thoroughly investigate complaints raised.
-
6. Hiring and Rewarding Diverse Talent Based on Merit:
At RBI, we hire, compensate, and promote our employees based
on what they do and how they do it – meritocracy is a
foundational value.
In addition to implicit bias training, our strict
zero-tolerance policies give our employees the confidence to
bring all concerns to our attention. The safety and health of
our employees is our priority and all employees are able to
report their concerns to our People team, Legal team, or
through an anonymous hotline.
It is our duty to revisit our recruitment process from time to
time so that we achieve the diversity of employees and leaders
we want at RBI. A diverse pipeline of candidates helps us
reach a diverse employee population who earn promotions,
raises, and all forms of compensation entirely based on their
merit.
-
7. Diverse Marketing:
We are committed to accurately representing the communities we
serve.
Our Guests include people from different races, ethnicities,
and sexual orientations. Naturally, our marketing and
advertising efforts reflect the sentiments of our Guests,
making them feel welcome. Our advertising, media, public
relations, design, and digital agencies come together to bring
our diverse vision to life through our brands.
-
8. Community Building:
Our charities account for diversity when they report on how
funds are invested and distributed.
Led by our four charitable organizations, the Burger King
McLamore Foundation, Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, the Popeyes
Foundation, and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, we
ensure our community contributions benefit a wide range of
people in our home markets, including women, Black,
Indigenous, People of Color and those who identify as LGBTQ+.
-
9. Governance and Infrastructure:
Our clearly defined infrastructure at the corporate level
supports our diversity measures.
A dedicated group within our People team implements our
diversity and inclusion initiatives and our executive
committee of three is accountable for tracking our diversity
and inclusivity goals and informing our CEO of our progress.
-
10. Staying Committed:
To stay committed to our diversity initiatives, we have
outlined a plan to reach our goals.
We aim to hire and promote students, employees, and senior
leaders who are women, Black, Indigenous, People of Color and
who identify as LGBTQ+. We will do so based on their merits.
We will hold ourselves accountable for this outcome. Getting
closer to our goal helps RBI become more successful in our
purpose to build the most loved restaurant brands in the
world.
